The
Woodstock School of Ballet first opened in 1985
with a commitment to offering the community the highest standards
for dance training, and related arts. Since then, students
have thrived in a professional, caring atmosphere, learning
from some of the metro area's finest instructors.
Our philosophy is to encourage students,
in a positive environment, to be self-motivated, competing
only with themselves, and to develop a sense of personal accomplishment.
Physically, students will gain strength,
coordination, flexibility, and good body alignment from their
training. Other benefits include self-confidence, poise, good
classroom manners and just plain fun!
We hope your holidays were fun-filled! The staff at WSB wishes to thank you for the nice cards, gifts and goodies we received from our students. Hopefully you've managed to get some rest and relaxation after the busy season. Before we launch into recital choreography we thought it would be fun to have our annual “fitness month” here at WSB. Here are the details…
FITNESS MONTH AT WSB…The month of January will be devoted to Fitness Month at WSB. If you are currently enrolled, you are invited (or should we say challenged!) to take any classes you want for these next few weeks, at no extra charge. We will not start recital dances until February, so now is a perfect time to take advantage of this offer to get in shape for 2012! It is also a good way to try out different teachers and styles of dance and make up any missed classes. Refer to your schedules for appropriate classes. Anything within your age range is fine and you do not need to notify us in advance. Just come and have fun!
RECITAL 2012…Costumes are being ordered now for recital, which is Saturday June 2nd at River Ridge High School. Students have been measured for costumes and the costume fee of $65 (per class taken) was due in December. Late payments will be accepted throughout this week only. A photo of each costume ordered will be posted in February for you to see.
NUTCRACKER CAST FOLLOW-UP AND PHOTO SCHEDULE…Thanks so much to our students, parents and staff for making Nutcracker 2011 one of the best! Our dancers did a great job with their roles and we sincerely appreciate all the support and good help that made it possible.
DVDs that were ordered may be picked up beginning Jan. 9 and it’s not too late to order. If you get your order in by Thursday, Jan. 5 it will be here next week. Otherwise, add $5 to your order and it will be mailed directly to you. We have forms available in the office. Nutcracker photos will be made at the studio this week by Matt Fisher. You are not obligated to purchase packages, but they are reasonably priced and make wonderful momentos of the good times we had! Packages must be paid for (cash or check to Fisher Photography) on the day photos are made. Be sure to wear your costume with hair and accessories just as you did for the production and bring a change of clothes, as we will collect all costumes afterwards. Stage makeup is not necessary for photos, so keep it light! Please follow the schedule below:

NEWSLETTER...Check out the newsletter archive.
TUITION…is due the first week of each month. No notice will be sent for this, but we will have monthly reminders in each newsletter. You will be billed after the 10th of the month, if payment has not been made, and a $15.00 late fee will be included. There is a $15.00 charge for returned checks. Tuition may be paid by cash or check, and you can mail this or drop it into our tuition box in the lobby. If paying by cash, always get a receipt at the front desk. If paying by check, please put your child’s name on the check if you have a different last name.
ATTIRE…is specified for each class, so please make sure you have your child outfitted properly, including hair up and limited jewelry. Put your name on all attire, and if lost, we will make sure you get it back. Don’t forget to put your name on the inside of each shoe. Dance shoes may NOT be worn outside. It is always a good idea to have a bag for shoes and accessories. Our dressing rooms can be congested at times, so if at all possible, dress before coming to class. Be sure to check the lost and found bins in each dressing room if you are missing anything!
HOLIDAYS….. Classes WILL have classes on Monday, Jan. 16 (MLK Day).
“SNOW DAYS”…..Our policy states that if Cherokee Co. Schools adjourn for weather related reasons (snow, tornado warnings, etc.) so do we. This policy stands regardless of the weather conditions, so as to avoid last minute confusion. These cancellations are not made up, but you are always welcomed to come to extra classes to make up any misses that occur due to our schedule or yours. See the schedule for age-appropriate classes.
EMAIL ADDRESSES….Please email us at woodstockballet@bellsouth.net if you need to update your email address. We will gladly send out our monthly newsletter to you, and any other pertinent information.
