In 1992 "Cherokee Ballet Theatre"
was established as a performance outlet for pre-professional
students. The school's commitment to quality has produced
a polished group of dancers who perform a varied repertoire
of classical, modern, tap and jazz works. The Company's season
includes a holiday production of The Nutcracker, Spring Concert,
a Lecture/Demonstration series for area schools and libraries,
and a number of community performances. CBT has been a recipient
of a Grass Roots grant awarded by Georgia Council for the
Arts and Cherokee County Arts Council for our work in the
schools. Auditions are held each spring for Company placement.

Announcing our 14th Annual Production of
The Nutcracker
December 16th & 17th
Falany Performing Arts Center, Reinhardt University
Sign up this now for children’s roles!
It’s time to begin our annual preparation for Nutcracker 2011 and we hope that many of our students will participate in this wonderful holiday classic! We are looking for dancers, ages 3 through teen, to dance the roles of Snow Flurries, Mice, Angels and Soldiers. All dancers must be presently enrolled in any class at the Woodstock School of Ballet and able to attend Saturday rehearsals each week for one hour, beginning October 8th. Times for each group will be posted soon. There will be no rehearsals on Thanksgiving weekend.
This year’s “Nut” will be performed on Friday Dec. 16th at 7:30p.m. and Saturday Dec. 17th at 3:30 and 7:30p.m. at the beautiful Falany Performing Arts Center which is on the campus of Reinhardt University in Waleska.
There is a $125.00 performance fee per dancer which covers the cost of costume rental, all rehearsals and 2 tickets to the production. If you have more than one child, your fee will be only $75.00 for the 2nd child. In order to secure a part in the production, please come by the desk and sign up no later than Saturday, October 1st. Children’s parts will be assigned on a first come basis, so sign up as soon as possible to insure a role, as spaces are limited. The first installment of $75.00 per child is due upon sign up and the balance is due on or before October 8.
It’s such a great experience for our dancers to be involved in a full length production of this caliber. We hope that many of our dancers will take advantage of this opportunity and become part of a wonderful tradition here at Woodstock School of Ballet!
