Owner/Director Dana Crain has a background
in both Classical Ballet and Modern Dance. She began her dance
training with Stanley Zompakos, a former member of New York
City Ballet and Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. Her studies continued
with such notable teachers as Royes Fernadez, Duncan Noble,
Patricia Wilde, Erick Hawkins, Chase Robinson, Kelly Hogan,
Billy Wilson and Karel Shook.
In 1976, Ms. Crain earned a B.F.A.
in Dance from the University of South Florida. While at USF
she was one of two students chosen to assist to the Dance
Dept. chairman at Interlochen Arts Academy’s summer
dance program. She was awarded a City Spirit grant in 1976
by the Tampa Arts Council for her choreography for Tampa's
Bicentennial celebration.
Ms. Crain danced professionally
with Carl Ratcliff Dance Theater of Atlanta, touring extensively
throughout the southeast. She has also performed with Ruth
Mitchell Dance Company and Susan Eldridge and Dancers. Currently,
Ms. Crain is on the panel of adjudicators to select
outstanding dance students from the State of Georgia to participate
in the Governor's Honors Program each summer at Valdosta State
University.
She has instructed dance at Interlochen
Arts Academy, Shorter College, Berry College and North Atlanta
School for the Performing Arts. From 1978 through 1986, Ms.
Crain directed the dance programs for the Gilmer Arts
Council and the Blue Ridge Mtns. Arts Association and was
recognized in both communities for her outstanding contribution
to the arts.
